Bill began his career in the financial services industry in 1987, and started his own company in 1993. In 2003, frustrated by the losses incurred by individual investors who followed the industry’s “buy-and-hold” philosophy, he formed 401 Advisor, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor. Following his own research, and work done with Professor Stan Eakins, Professor of Finance at East Carolina University, he built 401 Advisor around the use of his proprietary trading models. These models are designed to take advantage of market opportunities, while avoiding poor performing areas (including the entire market if necessary) to minimize potential client risks.
To meet the needs of investors in today’s low interest rate environment Bill has concentrated the firm’s investment focus on dividend paying stocks. Bill’s portfolios can be fine tuned for high yields, rising income streams, or a combination of income and potential capital growth. Bill feels that dividend paying stocks and ETF’s are suited for all investors, but can be of special interest to retirees and other entities like trusts and corporate pension plans that are seeking higher income than available in typical interest bearing investments.
Bill was the recipient of the 2008 Charles H. Dow Award. He has hosted “Money Sense” a financial talk radio show, sponsored “The Nightly Business Report” on local ThinkTV and provided the “Financial Minute” a Public Service spot for local ESPN Radio. He became a life member of “Who’s Who in Business and Finance” in 2000. He has also authored several published articles and has finished his first book, The Naked Truth about Your Money published by Penguin Group.
The Naked Truth About Your Money is a primer written for the Millennials to help them learn to responsibly handle their money. However the book has great tips for anyone who wants to be a better money manager.
He is a sought after public speaker, speaking regularly on financial planning topics for the Ohio Public Employee’s Retirement System (OPERS). He has also worked as a consultant with the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office in prosecuting investment fraud.
